When I think of Amercian Education I always think of public education because that’s all I grew up around with a private school here and there but not many. But before 1778 there was no thought of public education until Thomas Jefferson, a name I would never think of to be part of American education history unless you’re in a social studies class or U.S. history class, wrote up Bill 79, A bill which would start a comprehensive plan for public education. That bill would not pass until 1796 and was revised and retitled to be called “An Act to Establish Public Education,”.
