TOP TEN TAKEAWAYS

1.) Thinking Quickly- With all the things we covered on issues we may have in the classroom its important to always be on your toes

2.)Being There- As a teacher its important that you’re there for your students as in if they’re having a bad or anything

3.)Working Together- Not only just working with other faculty but also working with the students.

4.)Plan Ahead- You never know what you’re gonna have in your classroom so if you plan ahead you will already have it figured out and how to handle it

5.)Talking it Out- Some issues that you may run across as an educator may lead to you needing to talk to other faculty or more help for a student.

6.)Helping Hand- You never know what going on in the background of a students life maybe even another faculty member just be there for them and help them if you can

7.) Being Positive- Even if you’re having a down day doesn’t mean you can put the students in the review mirror and not teach, put your game face on and get ready for the day. (not saying to hide all the emotions but you still gotta get through your days)

8.)Work Hard- This is something that I learned last year but still comes to my head because nobody is gonna do your work for you and make you think like a teacher so you gotta work hard to do it.

9.) REST- Some of the sophomore block people made it seem like the teachers might be over doing themselves so just to de stress and rest is a big thing.

10.)BE THE BEST- Be the best you can every week during a job, no matter whats going on you gotta show up and be your best for the students kinda the same as being positive but I think its different

Reflect on Group

While working with this group I’ve learned a lot more things with developmental factors and different amounts of factors that come with these developmental factors. Not only did we come over with different factors we had a bunch of different insights on those developmental factors and backgrounds that would bring us to other ways to think about it. With the group everyone had a different question but everyone had different thoughts about those question and everyone had there own story or background with it. While working alone I just don’t think I would’ve succeeded because it’s just my own thoughts and no insight from others to lead me to other ways of thinking.

Week Reflection

So this week we went over divorce and how it can impact developmental factors at every age. One big thing that it taught me was how many children are coming from a split household into the school. As a future educator that was never a thought that crossed my mind or even how many children are affected by it. The way it talked about the effect on developmental factors really broadened the way I see divorce and the effect it has on children.

Value of Seminar Group

With working in the seminar group it showed more ideas and other people’s backgrounds and ideas on the questions. While working individually you only have your ideas and the research papers ideas without anyone else giving input. With the seminar group or any type of group you get thoughts from different type of backgrounds, Which leads to many different ideas and others ways to think about the questions that were brought upon the group.

Seminar Group

This group came up with a bunch of great developmental questions. One way I was able to help with their questions, was keeping up with their questions and giving my input and backgrounds with the situations that were given at hand. The way we came up with our question was discussed with others thoughts and came up with questions that fit our thoughts and what we thought would be good things to discuss. With how we kept the conversations going was to keep the questions going just to find ways to keep the talking going and how to keep it interesting and keep us thinking about things we can think about in our classrooms to help build great students.

Revised Philosophy

This may sound like a copy of my old philosophy, but these are key aspects to me as a future educator.

These are the main concepts that are very important to me that’ll make me the best future educator that I can be.

  • Connections
  • Communication
  • Fun
  • Memory
  • Learning

With all these listed here they are very important to me as I’m learning how I want my career as an educator to be. One thing that I learned the first semester was connections. Connections are such a big part of the education world; you need to be able to connect with the students and their parents with also creating a connection with the other faculty in the building. With these connections you will learn more about the way you teach and ways to better it and become that better educator that you want to be. While learning there is more than just learning how to become that better educator but also the learning of the students. While also coming up with new ways to help them learn better so it’s kept in their memory. Memory is a big part of blooms taxonomy. Memory is something that sticks with you forever and if you can come up with ways for students to remember your material better it’ll make their lives way simpler, and they will have more easier recognition on the things being taught. The main way to get the best memory of that class is to make the material they are learning fun. It just can’t be seen as being taught by a robot but make it so they can enjoy what they are learning. Either with coming with fun projects or fun things to do in class that will be mixed with the material being taught. While making the material more fun you must have good communication with the students. To understand if they’re understanding the content of the class. While also keeping communitive with other faculty to see what is working for them and just going back forth on ideas to see what they think of your ideas.

These are just a couple of my main focuses that I’ve learned so far that will stick with me throughout the rest of my future as trying to learn how to be an educator.

Updated Things Taken away from V.P.

Village Project has taught me many things about how to be a better educator. Which may sound very familiar to my other post, but all these ideas stuck with me. My Main Takeaways are

  • Connections- Connections are something that will always stick with me as an educator. The connections you make with the students gives them more trust in you. Which helps with having them grow as students because they know they can trust what the teacher is teaching. With also making connections with other co-workers so you can learn more from the way they do things.
  • Understanding- With Village project it gave me a great understanding of what my future was going to look like. While also giving me different perspective on ways I can do things better.
  • Learning- Learning was put in a whole different perspective for me. Not just me learning how to be a better educator. But also the different way the students learn and how they can learn better if they are taught differently if its more equip to the way that they learn.
  • Experience- I got so much experience on how I can be a better educator in my future. Its only my freshman year here and Village Project taught me so much about dealing with certain situations and just about things I didn’t think I would need to know till now.
  • Patience- Village Project showed me the patience that a educator must have. Just the patience needed to succeed as a teacher and as a human you must be patient with both sides of your life and save time for each point. While also being both at the and the same time.
  • Communication- In village project I have learned a lot about communication. Whether its communicating with students or other faculty members. How to ask questions to faculty members and get better learning of being an educator. Even how to talk to students and keep them on task or ask them to stay on task.
  • Mental Health- During Village Project I learned how it may take a toil on your mental health as an educator. With also learning you must be able to read students see how they are feeling mentally.
  • Fun- You cannot be a robot as an educator or else you would make class boring. Which makes a terrible learning environment for students. It may be different for each student but that is a personal opinion of mine. While if you make it more fun it makes more memories which in my opinion it ten times easier to learn.
  • Environment- Environment seemed to be a big thing that I noticed in Village Project. Certain rooms kept students less engaged where other room kept them more on track.
  • Teaching- Village Project gave me the opportunity to learn many ways of teaching. With learning the effectiveness of certain types of teaching and ways to keep students engaged on the teaching. With some ways of teaching, that didn’t seem to keep ways of grabbing attention of students.

Teaching Philosophy

Teaching List

  1. Connections
  2. Building Character
  3. Being respective and encouraging
  4. Learning New things
  5. Watching them grow

When it come to be a teacher or educator, everyone has their own strong beliefs behind what it means to be a teacher. What I have listed above is five strong points that I believe that can make a classroom better. This doesn’t mean connect with only the students or parents either. Connecting with other staff is a big role. Which is the same with all listed. It all leads to bigger things than just the classroom. With the building character you’re not only trying to build the character of the students. You’re building your own character in where and who you want to be as an educator. With the being respective and encouraging you need to be a teacher that understands this. No matter how this student is acting you need to be respective to the student. Just because you don’t always know what’s going on behind the scenes. While encouraging the students to do things. As in things they would enjoy or hinted in joining just may be out of there comfort zone. In teaching you’re learning new things all the time. It is what you do with the new things. If it’s something that you use in the classroom to make it a better environment or if it’s something that could make you a better teacher. That could make the learning better for the students. With finally watching them grow. Even if they are not in your class you get to watch those students grow into the people of tomorrow.

What Common Good can I do as an Educator

There are many common goods that an educator can do. But me as an educator I feel as if I can teach. While building connections with students. Just trying to make an impact on their life. With teaching a lesson about life or just about well whatever the actual lesson is on.
