Village Project has taught me many things about how to be a better educator. Which may sound very familiar to my other post, but all these ideas stuck with me. My Main Takeaways are
- Connections- Connections are something that will always stick with me as an educator. The connections you make with the students gives them more trust in you. Which helps with having them grow as students because they know they can trust what the teacher is teaching. With also making connections with other co-workers so you can learn more from the way they do things.
- Understanding- With Village project it gave me a great understanding of what my future was going to look like. While also giving me different perspective on ways I can do things better.
- Learning- Learning was put in a whole different perspective for me. Not just me learning how to be a better educator. But also the different way the students learn and how they can learn better if they are taught differently if its more equip to the way that they learn.
- Experience- I got so much experience on how I can be a better educator in my future. Its only my freshman year here and Village Project taught me so much about dealing with certain situations and just about things I didn’t think I would need to know till now.
- Patience- Village Project showed me the patience that a educator must have. Just the patience needed to succeed as a teacher and as a human you must be patient with both sides of your life and save time for each point. While also being both at the and the same time.
- Communication- In village project I have learned a lot about communication. Whether its communicating with students or other faculty members. How to ask questions to faculty members and get better learning of being an educator. Even how to talk to students and keep them on task or ask them to stay on task.
- Mental Health- During Village Project I learned how it may take a toil on your mental health as an educator. With also learning you must be able to read students see how they are feeling mentally.
- Fun- You cannot be a robot as an educator or else you would make class boring. Which makes a terrible learning environment for students. It may be different for each student but that is a personal opinion of mine. While if you make it more fun it makes more memories which in my opinion it ten times easier to learn.
- Environment- Environment seemed to be a big thing that I noticed in Village Project. Certain rooms kept students less engaged where other room kept them more on track.
- Teaching- Village Project gave me the opportunity to learn many ways of teaching. With learning the effectiveness of certain types of teaching and ways to keep students engaged on the teaching. With some ways of teaching, that didn’t seem to keep ways of grabbing attention of students.
